I trust all of you had a most pleasant Thanksgiving and have great plans for
this holiday season. The smells and sights of the season are everywhere:
freshly baked cookies, sparkling lights and tinsel, the merry sounds of
Christmas music playing in stores and on the radio, and gatherings with friends
and loved ones. It truly is one of the most wonderful times of the
year.
In
spite of the challenges of this past year, we Americans have so much to be
grateful for. This
article (widely circulated by e-mail), helps to remind us of how well we
have it here in the U.S.A. But this season can also be a time
of loneliness for those without family. So be sure to reach out to those
who really need that little extra boost this year. A smile, a warm handshake, a
card, a plate of cookies to a neighbor, small gifts that say "I'm thinking
about you", taking the time to talk to people, all can really make a
difference. In our electronic isolated world, reach out and literally
touch someone with love.
Has it really been that long? It was about 10 years ago
(in October of 1997) that our middle son, Mark was tested for processing
challenges. We discovered he had visual reversal disorders that were affecting his
coordination and abilities. Daniel, our youngest, diagnosed later with
memory problems, struggled with recognizing and remembering letters (my wife
said it took him 3 hours to learn his first 2 letter spelling word.
Gratefully, we were able to find help for them that led to the birth of Sharper
Mind Centers. Both scored in the top 90+% recently on their Iowa
nationwide exams.
Could your kids benefit from better thinking and
overcoming the various forms of dyslexia and ADHD? If so, then why not get
started? The first step is going through our in-depth evaluation to help you understand what is
going on and causing the processing problems.

True
examples of the improvements a number of our students have made
Isaac struggled with school and never saw grades much
higher than Cs and a few Bs. Last time when we checked Isaac's reading
ability, he could read in excess of 400 words a minute. His grades have
dramatically improved and he's seeing As frequently now.
William also struggled for years. Cs and Ds were the
norm. This last quarter, he's gotten 3 A's (possibly more) so far, and
he's much more excited about school.
"C" a 9 year old, had very poor visual memory. After years of tutoring, the best she could do on a very short
spelling test was 3 out of 5. Her grade were always "N's" for
Needs more work. The staff at Sylvan referred her to us. After 10
months of the program, her last report card was virtually all "S's" for
Satisfactory. She is much less emotional, has more self-confidence, is
much more physically coordinated, and shows all around improvement. Mom is very excited about the positive changes.
There are many more examples we could provide because EVERY
student has their own success story.
Seminars
Restarting
While we have lots of great information posted online,
it's a lot of reading. Many people prefer the fun, interactivity of a live
presentation where they can learn by listening, watching and asking
questions. We've done over 80 seminars in the past and we're offering them
again beginning the end of January. Click
here for locations, times and dates.
For the last 10 months or so, we have offered a twice-a-month program that has become
our most popular program option. It also allowed us to reduce the
full program pricing to the lowest it has ever been, less than the cost of most
orthodontic braces (less than $5000 for the entire family for up to 14 months -
and we offer a payment plan as well). So if cost has been a factor in the
past, then consider if you can afford braces, you can afford a sharper mind for
yourself and your loved ones!
We recently found out from
one of our major vendors that there will be a $100 price increase on the
main product we buy from them. That could take place in the next couple of
months. Why not beat that price increase and make sure you get started before
the end of February?
If your budget still will not allow for that, consider our
Home Training System with guided phone support for up to 3 hours and a full year
of anytime phone support. Call 503-641-5707 or 1-866-HELP-A.D.D. for
details if you are interested.
As some of you may be aware, we relocated several offices
in 2007. Our main Beaverton office relocated to the southwest area of Portland, Oregon
in the Nimbus Ave corporate area. This is a much nicer facility and
closer to the majority of our clients, which come from south of town. It's
located on the west side of Hwy 217 across from the Washington Square Mall.
As many of our southern clients came from Eugene,
Corvallis, Albany and the like, our Salem office was transitioned to Lebanon,
Oregon, where Wendy Patton works with our clients.
Kathie Ray-Annis sees clients who wish to do the Sharper Mind Centers
program in her
office in downtown Vancouver,
Washington.
Ever feel like someone just dumped on you? They came
by, created a negative experience for you or dumped a bunch of negative on you,
and you're left feeling terrible, drained, angry, saddened, etc. Perhaps
it was someone that cut you off and then yelled at you or someone that gave you
undeserved criticism. Here's an interesting article entitled "The
Law of the
Garbage Truck" that I found very helpful.
Ever wonder why we see so many people coming down with
cancer nowadays? If you attend church, people are always asking for prayer
for someone with cancer. As I did research into Autism and Autistic
Spectrum Disorders, I discovered the role neurotoxins played in contributing to
those, so we came up with a pretty effective detox protocol. Amazingly
enough, the lessons learned also gave us insights into cancer and why so many
people are coming down with it (80% of the time there are toxins on board that
are suppressing the immune system), and secondly we learned how to get rid of
many of those toxins. For adults, this can be done in as short a time period as
two weeks. Click here for more
information.
from Ed Meelhuysen
"If gratitude determines attitude and attitude
determines altitude, then one's gratitude determines one's altitude or
success. So be thankful in all things."
"Feelings are temporary, words are
permanent" (Therefore be careful what you say or write when
you are feeling down. This is especially true over the holiday season when
often clashes between family members occur. Learn to forgive and let go
quickly in order to be happiest).
Given the Law of More (people will always want
"more" in order to be satisfied), don't spoil your kids or give them
too much. They'll start up too high on the ladder of wants when they leave
home and never be satisfied with the small things that often bring about the
greatest satisfaction and happiness. Corollary: they will often go heavily
into debt to have the things they were used to when in their parents' home.
In a 2006 study of 84 Sharper
Mind Centers program graduates, of those who were on medications such as Ritalin
or Adderall, ALL (100%) were able to discontinue medications due to greater
mental performance. The average reading level improved by 3.4 grade
levels!
